The IEEE PRIME Conference  is an international conference specifically dedicated to Ph.D. students working in the field of microelectronics and electronics.
Proceedings are published in IEEE Xplore. The aim of PRIME is to provide an opportunity for Ph.D. students to present their research activity, contact other people in the research community and establish new contacts with research centers, universities and companies for future joint activities (fellowships, internships, future employment). The Silver Leaf awards top 10% to 20% presentations.

IMEP-LAHC Ph.D. student Ran Tao presented a paper titled "FEM modeling of vertically integrated nanogenerators in compression and flexion modes", with Dr. Ronan Hinchet (former IMEP-LAHC PhD student) and Prof/Dr G. Ardila, L. Montès and M. Mouis as co-authors.
The research described in the paper demonstrates that, with suitable design, composite materials based on an array of vertical piezoelectric nanowires embedded in a polymer matrix can outperform thin films, with higher output power in compression and higher sensitivity in flexion. Such models are important to pave the route for future energy harvesting and sensing devices.
